Overview

These projects focus on implementing the habitat provisions of Strategy 2 of Canada’s Wild Salmon Policy. Strategy 2 calls for:

  1. the documentation of habitat characteristics for individual salmon Conservation Units,
  2. the selection of indicators and associated benchmarks for habitat assessments, and
  3. the monitoring and assessment of habitat status.

 

The Skeena River Estuary: Assessment of Current Status and Condition

This project presents an assessment of the state of the Skeena River estuary from the perspective of salmon. Using a suite of pressure and state indicators related to water quality, salmon habitat and food, and salmon populations, we evaluated the health and condition of this unique estuary.

'Conservation Unit (CU) Snapshots' are short graphical reports that summarize key information about the state of each of the Skeena Watershed's unique salmon populations, as well as their habitat.
